The international IT specialist Arvato Systems integrates the technology of the leading German shipping service provider shipcloud into the Arvato Smart Logistics Platform “platbricks”.

There are still numerous digitization gaps in the logistics processes of many companies. This ranges from stationary PCs at goods receipt to a lack of storage space management in production to picking and replenishment processes that are still paper-based. And there is also a lot of potential for changes in the handling of external logistics processes with partners and customers.

For this purpose, Arvato Systems has developed the Arvato Smart Logistics Platform “platbricks”, a digital modular system that can be used to control both internal and cross-company logistics processes. Bernd Jaschinski-Schürmann, Head of Supply Chain Consulting at Arvato Systems, describes the advantages of “platbricks” as follows: “The platbricks Warehouse Management System (WMS) enables our customers from trade and industry as well as logistics service providers to fully and seamlessly integrate the digitization of logistics processes . This includes a shipping module that generates the necessary labels for all relevant CEP service providers and forwarders, carries out the shipment registration and offers exact tracking & tracing. All in the cloud, of course, and easy to integrate.”

This is where shipcloud comes into play. Thanks to the open interface concept, the technology is easy to integrate – one of the reasons why Arvato Systems chose the Hamburg-based company, to the delight of shipcloud founder and managing director Claus Fahlbusch: “This again shows the advantage of our simple integration, which has already proven itself with many technology cooperations and players from the field of digital logistic has proven: no matter how extensive the logistical volume of the respective user is, with our technology the reliable, transparent and above all cost-efficient processing is always possible. Thanks to the integration of all major carriers, both nationally and internationally. In this sense, working with a global partner like Arvato Systems is of course an important step in our own corporate development,” explains Fahlbusch.

And Bernd Jaschinski-Schürmann adds: “In shipcloud we have found a partner who provides all the functions for a shipping system that requires an innovative logistics system and therefore fits in very well with our portfolio.”
