Rebolet: "We are the recommerce rebellion"

It’s no secret that our world is in desperate need of help. A responsible approach to it and its resources is essential. Sustainability in business is increasingly becoming a central task for each of us. It is important to become active. Some companies are taking innovative approaches to this. One example is the young team from Rebolet, which has been realising its creative and imaginative vision from a Berlin warehouse in Germany and Europe since 2020.

We no longer have to worry about labels at all. Everything runs automatically from the system and in the end saves us a complete workstation in shipping. If you like, one man-day per day.

– Alessandro Bartsch , Rebolet.com

The recommerce rebels from the capital

“We are the recommerce rebellion. We don’t approve of wasteful practices in the e-commerce industry and ensure that items stay in circulation and are not wastefully destroyed. We want to make recommerce accessible to every online retailer to save a billion items from destruction and ultimately help make our planet more sustainable.” – explains Alessandro Bartsch, Head of Engineering at the Berlin-based start-up, who is responsible for managing all technical processes.

No more headaches with returns

At the Berlin location, the Rebolet team takes care of the goods that they have taken over from their commercial customers, mostly from the fields of household technology, furniture and decoration. The goods are reconditioned here, if necessary, sold via their own platform or other channels and shipped to the new owners. This is not an uncomplicated process, which Rebolet is able to manage quickly, smoothly and efficiently thanks to good technology partners.

Berlin, Gothenburg, Hamburg

On the one hand, there is Ongoing WMS, a cloud-based warehouse management system (WMS) for logistics service providers and forwarders, which was developed by the Swedish company Ongoing that also has Shipcloud as a cooperation partner for shipping. A perfect fit, you might say, because Shipcloud also supports the shop software from Shopify that Rebolet has been using up to now. But it gets even better. “When it came to integrating a feature specially tailored to our needs into the overall complex, the message came from Gothenburg that it would be best to go through with the guys from Hamburg,” admits Alessandro Bartsch.

Speed means success

And the Berlin Head of Engineering remembers this cooperation fondly. “Thanks to plug-in technology, the integration from system to system worked without a hitch. We saved a lot of time and were able to go to market quickly. And that is very important, especially for a start-up like us. If you lose time, competitors with similar ideas will pass you by very quickly. Thanks to Shipcloud, we can hold our own at the top.” – Bartsch is pleased and is happy to go into detail.

Advantages thanks to Shipcloud

“We no longer have to worry about labels at all. Everything runs automatically from the system and in the end saves us a complete workstation in shipping. If you like, one man-day per day.” This is not only a financial advantage in times of a shortage of skilled workers. As further advantages, he mentions that not only the label, but also a return label is printed out and all that with Rebolet’s own label, the original owner or manufacturer remains anonymous. So far, DHL has been used for shipping in Germany and Europe, but the possible expansion to DPD will be used in the future.

What else needs to be said

To the question posed at the end – With which sentence would you recommend Shipcloud?- we receive the answer: “There is no better provider in the German market in terms of price-performance ratio and when it comes to implementing individual applications, not anyway.”
